1. Who we are

Global Emergency Alerts is the name used for this independent digital alert subscription service. In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the Global Emergency Alerts website and subscription service.

Service: Global Emergency Alerts

Website: https://www.globalemergencyalerts.org/

Contact and legal notices: [email protected]

2. The service

Global Emergency Alerts is a subscription-based digital notification service that sends browser and compatible mobile-device web push notifications about selected serious developments from monitored official and high-signal sources. These may include major earthquakes, tsunami warnings, severe flood warnings, highest-level severe weather warnings, disease outbreak updates, public safety notices and major disruption events.

  • Delivery is by web push / browser notifications only.
  • Subscriber access is limited to up to 2 personal devices per active subscription. Each device must be set up separately.
  • You may use the Manage Alert Devices process to request a secure email link and remove an old linked device before setting up a replacement device.
  • Removing a device stops that device being targeted for future alert notifications unless it is set up again. Removing a device does not cancel the subscription.
  • Sharing setup links, subscription access or notification access outside your own personal use is not permitted.
  • A separate browser, browser profile, operating system or Home Screen web app may count as a separate device for notification purposes.
  • We do not provide a public alert feed, public archive or on-site list of live alerts.
  • Coverage and functionality may vary by browser, operating system, device, location, connectivity and third-party platform support.
  • Alerts are selective. We do not monitor every possible country, agency, incident, weather event, disease report, outage, advisory or official source.
  • We may add, remove, suspend or alter monitored sources, thresholds, categories, jurisdictions, features or delivery methods at any time.

3. No reliance / not official

  • The service is informational only and is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
  • We are not an emergency response provider, emergency services operator, government agency, state alerting authority or life-safety system.
  • We do not guarantee that alerts are accurate, complete, current, timely, relevant, uninterrupted or delivered at all.
  • We do not guarantee that every serious event will be detected, selected, assessed, escalated or sent as a push notification.
  • You remain responsible for checking official sources and contacting emergency services where needed.
  • You must not rely on this service as your sole source of urgent, emergency or safety-critical information.

4. Eligibility and access

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to subscribe.
  • You are responsible for maintaining a compatible browser, supported device, internet access and functioning notification permissions.
  • You are responsible for completing any device-specific setup steps, including Home Screen web-app setup where required by iPhone or iPad behaviour.
  • You must only set up notifications on devices permitted under your subscription allowance.
  • You are responsible for removing old linked devices through the Manage Alert Devices process before adding a replacement device.
  • If notifications are blocked, disabled, unsupported, interrupted or expire, alerts may not be received.
  • We may refuse, suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe use is unlawful, abusive, fraudulent or in breach of these Terms.

5. Subscriptions, billing and taxes

  • Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis at the interval shown during checkout.
  • Payments, subscription management and customer-portal access are handled through our payment provider. We do not store your full card details on our own servers.
  • Your subscription remains active only while payment is successful and your subscription status is active or otherwise recognised by our systems as entitled to receive alerts.
  • Prices may include or exclude VAT or similar taxes depending on what is shown during checkout.
  • If a payment fails, is reversed, is disputed or cannot be processed, access may be suspended or terminated until the issue is resolved.

6. Cancellation

  • You may cancel through the secure customer billing portal, through the manage-subscription link provided to you, or by contacting support.
  • Unless stated otherwise at checkout or required by law, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Cancellation stops future renewal but does not automatically create a refund for the current billing period unless required by law or expressly stated by us.

If mandatory consumer cooling-off or cancellation rights apply where you live, those rights are not excluded by these Terms.

7. Refunds

Refunds, if offered, are governed by what is stated at checkout and any separate refund or cancellation policy in force at the time. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support promptly.

Because this is a digital service delivered on an ongoing basis, refunds may be limited once account access, device linking, monitoring access or alert delivery has begun, subject always to applicable law.

Where consumer cancellation or cooling-off rights apply, nothing in these Terms removes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • attempt to bypass security controls or access non-public systems;
  • interfere with the service through scraping, abusive automation, probing or denial-of-service activity;
  • reverse engineer or misuse client-side scripts beyond ordinary browser execution;
  • share, forward, resell or exploit setup links, subscription access or notification access outside your own permitted use;
  • use the website or service for unlawful purposes.

9. Intellectual property

  • Website content, branding, design and software are owned by us or our licensors.
  • You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for normal personal or internal business use during an active subscription, subject to the stated device allowance.
  • No right, title or interest in our intellectual property is transferred to you except for that limited use right.

10. Availability and changes

  • We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, including features, pricing, coverage, monitored sources, alert thresholds or delivery behaviour, at any time.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
  • The service depends on third-party providers and platforms, including payment, hosting, browser, push-notification and email infrastructure, which may change or fail outside our control.
  • We may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes are material, we may also take reasonable steps to draw them to your attention.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on alerts, delayed alerts, inaccurate alerts, missing alerts, failure to detect events, failure to escalate events or failure to receive alerts;
  • we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, including loss of profits, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of data or business interruption;
  • our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or the minimum amount required by applicable law if higher.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or mandatory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses arising from your misuse of the service, your breach of these Terms, or your unlawful use of the website or service.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts in that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules require otherwise.
