Important information is often buried beneath routine notifications, social-media posts and fast-moving news stories. Global Emergency Alerts was created to provide a calmer, more selective layer of awareness for serious events.
The service is deliberately narrower than a rolling news feed or incident map. It aims to surface selected high-priority alerts without asking customers to monitor several apps and websites throughout the day.

Earlier awareness can provide more time to assess the situation and check official guidance.
Preparedness does not mean reacting to every warning or expecting disaster. It means having enough reliable information to make a calm decision when a serious situation develops. The service is designed to support that approach, alongside practical guidance in the Knowledge Centre.
Global Emergency Alerts is independent. It can draw attention to selected serious developments but does not replace government alerts, emergency broadcasts, local authorities or emergency services.
It does not claim to monitor every agency, country, fire or incident. Coverage depends on the sources and alert types supported.
No native app is required where browser push is supported. Each active subscription includes up to 2 personal devices.
Source availability, internet access, permissions, devices, operating systems and third-party push services can all affect delivery.
